"Aralyn" was our first client on the initial day
out with our new mobile medical clinic!
As staff, we were all excited and nervous as she approached our door. She and her husband saw us parked off of
Capital Blvd. near Mini City and decided to walk over. They stopped by only because her husband kept
telling her he thought she was
pregnant. After being married over a decade and being told by a doctor that she
could not get pregnant Aralyn didn't really think she could conceive. As they came on the mobile and filled out the
paperwork, she stated that if she were pregnant, she was not sure if she would
continue with the pregnancy or have an abortion. Aralyn’s pregnancy test was positive and she
was shocked! Her ultrasound revealed that
her baby was 12 weeks in gestation! She was overwhelmed to tears by seeing her
baby move around during the ultrasound. When
Aralyn left she said that as the news continued to sink in she would get
excited. Aralyn has since made the
decision to keep her baby and chose LIFE!
For me, that first day on the Mobile
was exciting and tiring. We encountered a number of technical issues (i.e.
internet, administrative issues, etc.), but the location where we were parked
was perfect! Continually people would drive up next to the unit, park, and
enter the phone number into their phone. We were located directly between the grocery
store and the bus stop and so many people as they were going about their normal
day to day activities stopped by. As
people came by our nurses were able to educate the women on how to pursue
appropriate health care services. Throughout the day we heard comments such as,
"This is so great”, or I'm gonna tell all of my friends about y'all."
I am very excited to see how God
will use our “ministry machine!” and am grateful to be a part of such a step of
faith for First Choice!
