Jayla's Doctor Encouraged Her to Have Two Abortions

A few weeks ago we met “Jayla”, a mom of three who recently moved to Raleigh with her boyfriend.   Jayla saw the mobile clinic parked near by and decided to stop by to take a pregnancy test and have an ultrasound. The pregnancy test was positive, but she was too early in her pregnancy to have an ultrasound.  She returned a week later and had her first ultrasound on the mobile clinic!

When we met Jayla she was very wary about her pregnancy. She shared that she had two abortions last year through pregnancies with her current boyfriend.  She also said that her boyfriend does not believe in abortion and jokingly calls her "a baby murderer."  Jayla has a congenital heart condition which has led her to the decision of abortion in the past.  Her cardiologist has encouraged her to abort because of the potential health risks she could face during a pregnancy. We educated her on the importance of seeking medical counseling and obtaining a second opinion from a local cardiologist before having an abortion. 

During the ultrasound Jayla was tearful when she saw the baby's heartbeat.  Through tears she said, "I love being pregnant and having my babies".  We gave Jayla the ultrasound pictures of her baby and she stared intently at them and smiled while saying she couldn't wait to show her boyfriend because he would be so excited. We encouraged her to schedule another appointment when they could both come together. Since they have returned and Jayla has made a decision to have her baby!  Praise God for His work through us!
