"Meagan" found First Choice Pregnancy Solutions while searching online for abortion options. She and her mom quickly scheduled an appointment to come on our mobile. Days before, Meagan's mom had her take an at home pregnancy test and they were both shocked and scared when it was a positive result.
As we met with Meagan, she shared that she simply wasn't ready to have a
baby and wanted to have an abortion. Meagan's Mom was there as a support during the
appointment and told her she really wanted her to keep the baby, but
would support her no matter what she decided.
Meagan is preparing to attend college in the fall and felt that a baby would get in the way of her goals and she was feeling overwhelmed at the financial cost of supporting a baby.
Meagan also honestly shared that she knew other people who had babies when they were
young and she verbalized that she didn't want to turn out
like them because having a baby would mean she could not get her degree or a job.
During the ultrasound portion of her
appointment Meagan opted to view the screen and she saw
her 6 week old baby. As she was having the ultrasound she smiled and said that her heart and gut told her to keep the baby! Meagan's demeanor changed and she spoke with
excitement as she saw the baby on the screen!
After the ultrasound we chatted more and asked Meagan what changed her mind, and she shared that she didn't want to kill a baby and that now she sees that she has the support she needs. After the ultrasound our staff was able
to talk to her about ways Meagan can still
stay in school, and resources that are
available to her. We encouraged her that she didn't have
to have the same story as those other young Moms, that
she could write her own story and still choose LIFE!
