"Chelsea" found First Choice through an online
search provided by our partnering agency, Online for Life in June of 2013. Her visit to our office was unusual because
both Chelsea and her boyfriend were very, very quiet while they were with us. Our nurse tried to engage them in
conversation about their decision and how they were feeling about the pregnancy,
Chelsea simply said “I just can’t be pregnant right now, not at my age and I
know that my pregnancy will be high risk and my boyfriend and I just can’t
handle it. I just need to go through
with the procedure.”
During the ultrasound Chelsea mentioned that she
researched ultrasound pictures online and then pointed out her baby’s heartbeat
on the ultrasound, she was about 7 weeks pregnant. After the ultrasound as the nurse shared more about the
abortion procedure and other options they both remained silent and didn’t
answer many questions. We concluded they
would likely abort.
BUT THEN, during a routine follow up call in February
2014 we called Chelsea and she answered and told us that she couldn’t talk,
because she was having contractions and was at the hospital about to have the
baby! Yes, she answered her phone while in
labor! She was happily having her baby
girl, “Nattie." Stories like Chelsea’s
remind us that God is at work in people’s hearts that we serve! Praise God with
us as we welcome Nattie into the world and know that we gave her a voice when
she was voiceless! If you would like to
help support Chelsea by bringing them a meal, a gift or to help them out with their new little one, please contact Amanda Piper at Amandabrookerunyon@gmail.com
