We Did The Only Thing We Could...We Prayed. "Shae's" Choice.

We met “Shae” in April the day after she found out she was pregnant.  The night before she came in for her appointment she spent hours searching online for local places she could have an abortion. Then, as she processed her situation she settled on the fact that her pregnancy was a life.  She started to see all the good in her life through her family support and her relationship with her boyfriend. When she came to her appointment she told us that she and her boyfriend wanted to keep the baby. Shae shared that even though she was young and very scared, she believed in herself and her strength to deal with her decision.

The day after her appointment, “Shae” told us that after getting back into the reality of her life she decided that an abortion was ultimately the best choice.  Her family and friends were telling her that it would be too hard….."you are too young" and "you don’t make enough money to care for a baby." Shae was also afraid of what her friends and peers would think of her being pregnant at such a young age. She believed that it would just make more sense to have the abortion.

While speaking with Shae we were able to encourage her to make the best decision for herself and to not be pressured into doing anything she wasn’t comfortable with. We told her that if her heart’s desire was to have the baby then we wanted to help her overcome her obstacles; that she didn't have to do anything alone. Shae continued to tell us her mind was made up and it was just too much and she was going to abort.  Her abortion appointment was made for the next week and she declined our offer for help and any further conversations.

So we did the only thing we could do, we prayed for Shae for several months. We reached out a few weeks later, but we never heard back from her, we patiently went to our Father on her behalf and on behalf of her unborn baby.

Out of the blue, LAST WEEK, we finally heard from Shae.  She called us to tell us that she changed her mind last minute and decided not to go through with the abortion. She told us that she had a long talk with her boyfriend and they both decided that abortion was not right for them. Through processing the decision together, Shae’s boyfriend shared that HIS mom almost had an abortion when she was pregnant with him.  He knew that he could not decide someone else's fate.  He believed that they had a strong relationship and that together they could work hard to take care of their baby, no matter what other people were saying.

  1. Praise God!! Thank you for your faithful work and prayers on behalf of these babies! You are making the differences you know about and many you won't know about until we get to heaven :)
