As a reminder, JaLisa grew up bouncing from foster homes, friend's couches and cots at homeless shelters until a few weeks ago. She is 38 weeks pregnant with twin boys and has a 19 month old son. When she found out she was pregnant with twins, she considered abortion, but knew in her heart she would love them as much as she did her son. She came to the First Choice office, homeless, out of options and needing help.
Within a few days she was settled in a home that was offered to her rent free for 3 months to help her get on her feet!!!! I believe one of the best parts of JaLisa's story is about us, the Body of Christ. We received many calls, messages and emails asking how individuals could help. It was amazing to see the Body of Christ respond out of love. Furthermore, the family that offered their home to JaLisa did not receive the initial email and was not familiar with First Choice, but received the information from a friend that forwarded the email to them! Two small groups from a local church also hosted a House Warming Party for her last Sunday to help provide her with the basic essentials she needs for herself and her family.
Through everything she has experienced over the past few weeks she expressed that she is in complete shock due to the love and support she has received. She finally feels like she is getting the help she needs for change in her life. She feels like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders because of how many people offered to help her with the babies. She is very thankful and excited for what God has for her future.
