A Look At Past Clients Who Are Working to Overcome
Their Financial Obstacles
As we mentioned the article Overcoming the Obstacle of Financial Crisis when a client comes to First Choice we do not know where they have been, who has influenced their life or the experiences that have shaped their decisions. Sometimes it is a long road to walk with them as we watch them change and often make mistakes but we reflect the abundant grace and mercy that Christ has given us as we walk with them through their journey.
Reflecting that financial crisis is a deep-seated issue that can cause someone to feel trapped into abortion.  This article takes a look the journey of 3 different clients who are overcoming their financial obstacles.
Nancy and Eric.jpgNancy and Eric's Story: Nancy came to First Choice unsure if she wanted to keep her baby.  She was working as a stripper and Eric, the baby’s father, was the manager of the club where she worked.  She questioned her ability to provide for her child after it was born. Eric and Nancy love that they chose life for Elise, but they are still currently struggling to make ends meet and have continual problems with housing, income and childcare.  They have both become Christians and know they cannot go back to the life style they were in although they both know it would meet their financial needs.  Eric and Nancy are both working and are striving to save and make a better financial future for themselves; however, in the past neither Eric or Nancy have had someone teach them how to budget or plan for the future so it is a process for them to grown their money management.

Sarah’s Story: Sarah was away to attend college and found out she was pregnant.  She did not want to givesarah nash.jpg up her future and intended to have an abortion, but instead chose LIFE.  When she made the decision to keep the baby, she had many financial pressures swirling around her. First Choice was able to help her get a reliable car, transfer to a community college, and provided for her daily necessities and rent.  Through the monthly process she learned how to use her resources wisely and over time got better at managing them. She was able to secure a job at a bank and received promotions that enabled her way up to purchase a townhouse.  Sarah recently married Daniel and they are raising Jack in a Christian home.  Sarah has had positive financial influences in her life so it was easier for her to learn how to be a good money manager.

baby Deshawn.jpgDrew and LaKizzy’s StoryDrew and LaKizzy came to us when LaKizzy was almost 20 weeks pregnant and did not feel like they had any other option other than to abort.  Their financial pressures were steep! They were sleeping on the floor of LaKizzy’s mom’s home with their two year old special needs son with them.  Drew and LaKizzy chose life after receiving help and getting caught up on their bills. To make matters more challenging, LaKizzy delivered Da'Shawn (picture to the left) at 24 weeks old.  First Choice has helped them with rent by contacting churches each month to contribute towards their bills. Their on- going financial struggle is having consistent income; Drew has a felony back ground and it has been very difficult for him to find a job to provide for his family, but he is working towards finding a job and had a job interview in Henderson this week.  Currently they are still living moment to moment struggling financially, but are trying to learn how to survive with basic necessities and find a less expensive place to live to lower their bills.  Drew and LaKizzy are growing in their relationship and trust in Christ.
